History & Staff
We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.
Reed’s Chapel was founded in 1960 by Mr. Charlie Reed. After his death in 1970 his wife, Frances, continued to operate the business until it was purchased by Wayne and Virginia Lewis in July of 1978. Wayne and Virginia’s son, David, joined the business as a licensed embalmer and funeral director after he graduated from John A. Gupton Mortuary School in Nashville in 1981. In May of 1998, the family purchased two more locations in Decaturville and Scotts Hill. At this time, Wayne and Virginia’s daughter, Karen Conder, came on board along with her husband, Keith Conder. Keith later graduated from Jefferson State Community College with an associates degree in funeral service education and is a licensed embalmer and funeral director.
