Gary Adams

Gary Adams, age 57, of Lexington passed away surrounded by love Saturday, February 13,2021 at his home. Gary always had an I can do it or we can achieve it spirit often saying not a problem, we will get it done and was known for his incredibly hard and strong work ethic. Gary also had a great love of talk and food often at the same time. There was much that Gary loved, his faith, the outdoors in all aspects, his welding career of 31 1/2 years in Lexington at NIDEC, the business he owned with his wife, exploring new places, learning new skills especially woodworking, Gary had a great love of telling stories but his greatest enjoyment were the people he met, to Gary no one was a stranger. Gary had a generous spirit, often smiling and whose laughter rang through his home, work space or where ever he might be. Gary loved his family immensely and unconditionally especially his wife, children, grandchildren and all of his extended family whom he enjoyed talking to often and spending time with when the opportunity presented itself. Gary had an exceptional love for his customers who in turn loved him greatly. He was born August 25,1963 in Providence, Rhode Island to William Frances Adams and the late Carolyn Joyce Adams. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, property manager for St. Mary's Catholic Church, a robotic welder and joint owner of a lawn care and landscaping company. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Theresa Jo Adams, 4 sons, Grant Adams of Nashville, Eric (Karlee) Griffin of North Dakota, Nathaniel (Shayna) Griffin of Scotts Hill, and Michael Adams of Adamsville, 2 daughters, Pamela (Chris) Cummings of Parsons and Brittany (Corey) Young of Florida, his father, William Frances (Birdie) Adams of Savannah, 2 brothers, Mitchell (Mary Ellen) Adams of Providence, Rhode Island, and William Joseph “Bill” (Teresa) Adams of Jackson, a sister, Julie (Michael) Higgins of Lexington, 11 grandchildren, Austin Kobiske, Nicholas Clifton, Noah Clifton, Zoe Clifton, Karly Clifton, Jax Adams, Brooklyn Griffin, Landon Griffin, Koltin Keymon, Grayson Keymon, and McKenzie Griffin. Aunts and Uncles, Elaine Croteau, Janell Russell, and Dewey Gammill. His cousins, Carol (Lawanda) Bain, Greg (Tammy) Bain, Roger (Sheila) Russel, Marilyn (Michael) Lunsford, Walter (Grace) Croteau, Ed Croteau, Diane (Roger) Carpentier. Nephews, Brenden (Jessica) Adams and their children Levi and Logan, Hunter (Karolina) Higgins and their daughter Eslee. Niece, Kelsey Adams. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Joyce Gammill Adams, maternal grandparents, Leo and Luella Gammill, paternal grandparents, William and Lucia Adams. maternal uncles and aunts, Gene Russell, Floyd and Dorothy Bain, and Maddie Ruth Gammill. Paternal uncle, Fern Croteau. Gary was preceded in death by a special Walker Coon Hound, Molly that he helped raise from birth and named - they were both known well for Molly's howls when she saw Gary and Gary his sheer delight and laughter at being greeted by Molly's howls, they were cancer buddies and often resting together. Funeral mass will be held on Monday February 22, 9 am St. Mary’s Catholic in Jackson 1665 US-45 Bypass Jackson,Tn. 38305 with burial to follow at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Parkers Crossroads. Visitation will be on Sunday February 21 at St. Andrew Catholic 895 N. Broad St. Lexington,Tn. 38351 in Lexington from 1 pm to 6pm with Rosary from 3-3:45PM at St. Andrews. Additional visitation the morning of service at St. Mary's from 8 am to mass. Reeds Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mary's garden renovation project, St. Mary's Catholic Church attn. Calli Carpenter 1665 US-45 BYP Jackson TN 38305 Gary and his family are grateful for the wonderful out pouring of support, prayers, love and the generous meals provided for Gary and his family while he was sick. We would like to thank Dr. Fouche and his wonderful staff, the wonderful care from the nursing team in the infusion clinic with a special thank you to the violinists who so loving played for the patients from the Jackson Symphony at the Kirkland Cancer Center. Dr Edward Koonce and the wonderful team who so lovingly cared for Gary and his family with Hospice of West Tennessee, West Tennesse Healthcare. Please be proactive, talk to your doctor and screen for cancer even if you don't have a family history. Gary had family history but no risk factors for lung cancer.
