Carol Ann Stone

Carol Ann Stone was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She was born in Lexington, TN in 1929 and spent all of her life there, except for four years spent accompanying her husband while he was in the United States Air Force. She was very proud of her home town for as it was and what it has grown into. She was a banker for over 40 years and was very proud of being a business woman and a part of her community. She married William "Bill" Stone in 1950 and remained married to him for 67 years until his death in 2017. She and Bill did everything together and loved to shop and eat out together. She loved to garden, to cook, to organize, to read, and to plan. She always found a job wherever she went; she was very detailed and she loved her work. She loved cooking and created many recipes and memories that will always be cherished. She loved and supported her church the First United Methodist Church and; besides her family, that was always one of her greatest prayer requests. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her only daughter Sandra Ann Spears. When her daughter passed away 18 years ago; her son-in-law and granddaughters became her world and she became theirs. She cooked for them as long as able and she planned for them down to tiny details. She was a woman who wanted things done a certain way; and could work on the details with painstaking care. Carol Ann loved to watch football and murder mysteries, and she treasured her Sunday school class and her close friends who she would call on the phone when she became homebound. Her last years were spent in her own home, surrounded by her family and her memories. She was our little lady; grandmother; grannie; and our Carol Ann. She will be remembered and honored by her immediate and extended family here in Lexington, Alabama, Kentucky, and California. She was the daughter who took care of her parents in their old age; and this is the way that God let us honor her. The time spent with her and lessons learned from her will forever shape our lives. Deuteronomy 5:16. Funeral services will be Monday, August 25 at 3PM at the First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at the Church from 1PM until time of service. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Reed’s Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
