Mary Lou McDaniel

Mary Lou Lewis McDaniel departed from her earthly home on Sunday, May 17, 2015. She was born on October 18, 1935 to the late Orvie and Lizzie Sego Lewis. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 59 years, Bobby Joe McDaniel; 3 daughters, Tammy McDaniel Inman (Ken), Lisa McDaniel Bailey (Jimmy), and Gina McDaniel White (Sam); 5 grandchildren who were the love of her life, Adam Inman, Abby Bailey, Amber Bailey, Jake White, and Macy White; 2 sisters, Katherine Roberts and Doris Hollowell; 3 brothers, Herman Lewis (Geneva), Jack Lewis (Ernestine), and Jerry Lewis (Lynn); sisters in law, Clara Adcock, Audrey Hale (Ozlee), Joan Scott (Ronald), Jerry McDaniel (Margaret) and Faye McDaniel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who also affectionately call her Mom. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dood Lewis and Wayne Lewis; sisters, Jane Woods, Brenda Weatherford, and Patricia Lewis; in laws, Carl and Vennie McDaniel; sister in law, Ann Hindman; and brother in laws, James Ray McDaniel and Billy Faye McDaniel. In addition to her love for her family, Mary Lou loved God and her church, First Baptist of Whiteville where she worked tirelessly in many areas. She served faithfully as Church Clerk for 37 years, the Fellowship Committee, the Flower Committee, Bible School, Nursery, and Choir. These were just a view of her many gifts of service. She was also actively involved in the community through Friendship Club, hosting many events in her home. Her home was a place where young people knew they were loved and there was always something good to eat. Two years ago, she and her husband moved to Jackson to be closer to family there and to better serve her health issues. She fought a valiant battle over the last few years and she was ready to go to her heavenly home. Visitation will be on Monday, May 18 from 5PM-7PM at Whiteville First Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service at 7PM. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 19 at 1PM at Reed’s Chapel in Lexington with burial to follow in Jones Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10AM till service at Reed’s Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be given to First Baptist Church Whiteville at 203 East Main St. Whiteville, TN 38075, West Jackson Baptist Church Mission Trip c/o Abby Bailey at 580 Oil Well Rd. Jackson, TN 38305.
