Joe Lee Sipes

March 20, 1935 - April 28, 2022

Joe Lee Sipes, age 87, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Lexington. Joe Lee, in his younger years, enjoyed riding horses and was an avid coon hunter. He was a great dancer and won several dance contests, that’s how he got the nickname “Twister”. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was very good at it. He drove a gravel truck, did logging work, and was a Trader. Joe Lee loved to hang around the community store and talk with his friends. He never met a stranger. He loved his Sand Ridge community! He will be dearly missed. He is survived by a nephew, Johnny Steve Sipes; a niece, Lisa Tutor; great nephew, JT Sipes; great niece, Stephani Davis (Darryl); and a great-great- niece and nephew; Nathaniel and Sarah Davis. He was preceded in death by a brother, John D. Sipes. Graveside funeral services will be Friday, April 29 at 2PM at the Sand Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at Reeds Chapel on Friday 1PM until service.
