Martha Frances Wheeler Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Martha Frances (Stanford) Wheeler, age 95, of Lexington, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on September 21, 1926, in Madison County, Tennessee, to Arthur Bryant Stanford and Laler Holder Stanford. Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Franklin Eugene (Gene) Wheeler, and her sister, Rachel Stanford Gibson. She is survived by her daughter Kitty Wheeler Lodholm (Larry); her sons, Thomas Wheeler (Peggy) and Jon Wheeler (Lisa); five grandchildren, Amy Wheeler Harris (Ron); Amanda Lodholm Henry (Bill); Andrea Lodholm Abbott (Dan); Daniel Wheeler; and Sheryl Wheeler, as well as four great-grandchildren, in addition to a wealth of family, and friends who will mourn her passing. Mrs. Wheeler married the love of her life, Gene Wheeler, on May 10, 1946, and they enjoyed 65 years together until his passing in 2011. Mrs. Wheeler was the librarian in Tucumcari, New Mexico for many years, while Gene served as a public educator, until they both retired and returned to Cedar Grove, Tennessee in 1983. She has been a member of the Sunset View Church of Christ in Spring Creek, Tennessee, since that time. Services will be on Sunday, February 13 at 2PM at Reed’s Chapel in Lexington, Tennessee, and followed by internment at the Bargerton Church of Christ Cemetery in Lexington, Tennessee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 10AM until service.
