Barbara Jean Wood

It is with much profound sadness, we announce the passing of Barbara Jean Crownover Wood, on April 21, 2025, the last surviving child born to William James and Molly Evelyn Woods Crownover. She was born on the 16th of November in 1935 and lived her life in the wonderful community of Juno and Sand Ridge and was a lifelong member of Sand Ridge Baptist Church. Barbara married Clois Alwayne Wood on the 19th of April in 1953 in Corinth, Mississippi and was blessed to be together for over 7 decades before his passing on the 22nd of March in 2024. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Lynne Wood (David)Threadgill, of Decatur, Alabama; 2 granddaughters, Molly Frances Brooke Threadgill of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Elizabeth Mariana Threadgill of Athens, Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend like family member, Jimmy Gossett and many more. She was preceded in death by her 2 children, Teresa Ann Wood and Jerry Wayne Wood; and her husband, Clois Alwayne Wood. Also preceding her in death are her parents, William "Will" James and Molly Evelyn "Evie" Woods Crownover; and 12 siblings as listed brothers, Willie Dell "Mutt" Crownover, J.C.(Betty) Crownover, Edward (Mary) Crownover, Otis (Glendola) Crownover, and Jerry Crownover; sisters, Wilma (Wadley) Crownover Garner, Lula Mae Crownover (Clyde) Scott, Eva Crownover (Lloyd) Keen, Nettie Crownover (Bill) Melton, Bonnie Crownover (Jim) Donaldson Mary and Serie Crownover. In the Celebration of a Generation of this amazing family we have been blessed with from the beginning the union of 2 lives in 1911 that starts with William "Will" James 27th March 1889- 9th October 1992 and Molly Evelyn "Evie" Woods Crownover August 25, 1900-November 9, 1981 and ends with the passing of the last surviving child of this union. Besides being a devout Christian, she dearly loved her entire life, her family, and friends. She was an amazing singer as was her entire family singing in the group "Spiritual Tones" for many years. Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Sand Ridge Baptist Church at 1PM with burial to follow in Sand Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at Reed's Chapel Funeral Home in Lexington, TN on Wednesday 4PM to 7PM and at Sand Ridge Baptist Church on Thursday from 12PM until service.
