Kaye Stanley Wellard

Kaye Stanley Wellard, 91, of Lexington, TN, peacefully passed on from this life pre-dawn on July 14, 2023. He was born June 11, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan whose parents emigrated in the late 1920s from England. One picture we treasure is our father sitting on the upper deck of the Ascania, crossing the Atlantic Ocean at 3 years old flexing his muscles! Preceding Kaye’s passing were his parents, Caleb (Kaye) Wellard(1975) and Pearl Ellen Childs Wellard (1954), a half sister, Prudence Parnell (lived all her life in England), his wife, Elizabeth, and two sons, Stanley James (1953) and Steven James (2017). Kaye leaves behind three daughters, Catherine Patricia Slone (Gary), Barbara Ellen Hilliard (David), and Margaret/Maggie Beacham (Richard). He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren. Kaye worked for Ford Motor Company in Michigan for 51 years. He lived a majority of his life in Belleville, MI. He loved his family, his dogs, his boat, his cars, including a restored antique Model A! He moved to Tennessee when he was 85 years old to live closer to his family. He sold everything and had a little house built on a hill walking distance from his family. He loved going to church when he was able to. Plans are being made to have a celebration of his life at his home. Day and time will be announced to family and friends soon. Following this celebration, family will be taking his ashes and his son, Steven’s ashes, to be laid at rest together in Michigan. He always said he wanted to fly one more time! Dad, you can fly high now! You are not limited anymore in that old, aching body! We don’t say good-bye, we say see ya later!! We will hold onto the good memories that we shared with you! We are so thankful for every caregiver who came to his house to care for him and when he was hospitalized those who helped him. There are too many names to list. Volunteer Home Care and Gentiva Hospice served our dad’s needs beautifully. You all made our work load lighter. We are thankful for Sheila Webb, dad’s caregiver, who stayed with us faithfully for the last year of our dad’s life.
