Nancy Ann Anderson

Our happiest, most loving girl passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in her mother’s loving arms. Nancy Ann Anderson, born September 20, 1966 with Down’s Syndrome, was truly a gift to this world from God. Her smile, her sense of humor, along with her fierce hugs made it impossible for you not to instantly love her. Nancy’s family was her rock; her dad, Earl A, her mom, Jo Ann, and two feisty brothers Stan and Tim. Her room at the end of the hall was filled with stuffed animals, coloring books, towers of CDs and UT sports memorabilia. She loved her Vols. Whenever she was asked about the Vols, her response was always, “They’re gonna win!” Just as she loved her family unconditionally, so did she love her church family at Sand Ridge Baptist Church. Until recently, she rarely missed a Sunday service or a Sunday school class. Frequently, she would be invited to recite her favorite bible verse, John 3:16, or sing her favorite hymn ‘Just A Little Talk with Jesus’, sharing her love for Jesus with everyone. One of Nancy’s greatest gifts was remembering people’s birth dates. You could ask her “Nancy, when is my birthday?” And she would reply correctly every single time. But, the most important birthday was her birthday. She would start reminding you about it months before. She would say, “My birthday is in September, remember?” Yes, we remembered, because that day was always filled with flowers and gifts and balloons and visitors. It was the happiest day. Nancy stayed busy with her numerous hobbies - coloring, singing, listening to music, and watching television. However, she did have one obsession. Wrestling. That girl knew exactly when WWE and Midsouth Wrestling was on tv. She had her favorite wrestlers and her favorite villains, and she was never as riled up as when they wrestled each other! She even had the opportunity to meet her favorites in person, thanks to the Gilbert family. It was such a thrill and made special memories. Of course, Nancy’s special needs required special care. We were blessed to have the Easter Seals program close by. Nancy loved being picked up by the van to go to work or a special program. Their team of caregivers were special and became a part of our family. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for their love and commitment to Nancy’s wellbeing over the years. Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Earl Anderson, and brother, Stan Anderson. She is survived by her mother, Jo Ann Anderson, Lexington, TN; brother and sister-in-law Timothy Earl and Kara Anderson, Loudon, TN; nephew Hayden and Alexis Anderson, Chattanooga, TN; niece Avery and Wilson Raines, Knoxville, TN; niece Ashley Anderson, Lexington, TN; nephew Chad and Jessica Anderson, Midland, TX; great niece Jadyn Anderson, Lexington, TN; great nephew Eli Anderson and great nieces Evy and Ella, Midland, TX. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 13 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Reeds Chapel, Lexington, TN. and Friday, July 14 from 12:00 pm until service at Sand Ridge Baptist Church. Services will be held Friday, July 14 at 1:00 pm at Sand Ridge Baptist Church, Lexington, TN, Dr. Marty Comer presiding. Internment to follow.
